NEW STUDIOS
Our new studio in Fitzroy is now complete! With three new studios and improved facilities, we hope to continue building the quality of the IAA experience.

Led by Gold-record songwriter, and Australian Idol 2008 Finalist - Thanh Bui along with one of Australia's top concert pianists Van-Anh Nguyen, this exclusive one-day singing and song-writing course will cover aspects vocal techniques, Speech-Level-Singing, improvisation, microphone techniques, stage movement, intention, song-writing structures, chord progressions.
Whether you're wanting to audition for the next musical or Idol, consolidate on your song-writing skills, preparing for Senior Music @ school or just curious, this is for YOU!
Complete with worksheets, writing your own song and a performance at the end of the day, this one off opportunity is not to be missed.
9:30-10:00 Registration
10:00-12:00 Session 1: Vocal Workshop
Covering vocal health, speech-level-singing, breathing, foundations to good technique, vocal exercises and improvisation
12:00-12:15 Tea break
12:15-2:00 Session 2: Performance Techniques
Covering microphone techniques, movement, understanding the song you're singing (intention). Technique Performance craft = Great performance!
2:00-2:45 Lunch
2:45-3:45 Session 3: Song Structure
Covering structure, what makes a good song, analysis of 3 chart-topping songs, chord progressions and improvisation
3:45-4:00 Tea break
4:00-5:30 Session 4: Song-writing
Having foundations from session 3, groups will write their own song followed by a performance. The top 2 groups will enter a song ‘write-off'. Winners will receive special vocal and song-writing sessions.
Worksheets are included for all participants.

The International Artist Academy and Vivo Music School have officially combined forces for Term 3, 2009.
"It's very exciting to collaborate with Vivo because from a classical perspective, Vivo has some of the best teachers in Sydney. With renowned concert pianist, Van-Anh Nguyen, as Vivo Artistic Director, we want to provide students with the best of both the classical and pop worlds. What we hope to bring in with IAA is a contemporary vision of creating a complete artist in regards to being a fantastic singer, song-writer and can play an instrument", says IAA Founder and Director, Thanh Bui.
IAA trained teachers use world renowned techniques and the highest level of music teaching in voice and song-writing. With all teachers at the academy being current performing artists and song-writers, students are given the experience of not only a vocal coach but a song-writer and performer. This enables teachers to help students understand what the industry is like, and what to expect when they make it.
The studio is situated at 16 York Rd. Kellyville, 2155.
Working from our studio in Footscray and Fitzroy you will need to be a current and experienced performer with an excellent vocal, have strong piano skills with an ability to improvise and ear-play, have strong music theory knowledge, have the ability to song-write, is familiar with Speech-Level Singing, and has had more than 2 years teaching experience.
Further to the aforementioned skills, you will also need to be a strong communicator, team-player and deeply passionate about sharing your knowledge to people of all ages and levels.

May and June has seen some exciting developments for IAA students. Students Sam Gaskin and Kate Lister have landed major roles in upcoming productions - Sam has been chosen as a lead for the nationwide production of THE JUNGLE BOOK, whilst Kate has score the lead role of 'Sandy' in GREASE.
We also welcome our new in-house producer and guitar teacher in Jason Leow to the IAA team - Jason owns 'December Switch Productions' and he brings many years of song-writing and production to all IAA students. Having strong networks both locally and internationally, Jason is passionate about assisting young song-writers taking their music to a wide audience.
